Mission and Purpose

Social Welfare Corporation Yanagi Hoikuen (hereinafter referred to as “the Corporation”) is a non-profit social welfare organisation established under Japan’s social welfare framework. Its mission is to promote the well-being, development, dignity, and independence of the people it serves, with a particular focus on child welfare and support for persons with disabilities.

The Corporation strives to ensure that a diverse range of social welfare services is provided in an integrated and responsive manner, respecting the wishes and individual needs of service users. Through the continuous development of services tailored to those needs, the Corporation seeks to enable people to grow and thrive in both physical and mental well-being, maintain their personal dignity, and live independently as members of their local communities.

To fulfil this mission, the Corporation operates the following social welfare services, classified as Type II Social Welfare Services under Japan’s Social Welfare Act.

Social Welfare Services

1. Child Welfare and Developmental Support

• Operation of day services for children with disabilities, including developmental support services

• Provision of consultation support services for children with disabilities

2. Disability Welfare and Consultation Support

• Operation of disability welfare services

• Provision of general consultation support services

• Provision of specified consultation support services

3. Childcare and Early Childhood Support

• Operation of Yanagi Hoikuen nursery

• Provision of temporary childcare services

• Provision of nursery services for infants and other young children under Japan’s infant and toddler childcare support system

Through these services, the Corporation works to support children and their families, promote the development and participation of children with disabilities, and help persons with disabilities live with dignity and independence in their communities.

The Corporation’s nursery is one component of its broader social welfare mission, which encompasses child welfare, disability support, consultation services, and community-based care.
